Morning Starters: Spring 2 - Electricity

Monday

Did You Know?

Some thunderstorms produce dramatic bursts of static electricity in the sky, known as lightning. Incredibly, the same static charge can help certain spider species travel long distances. After a storm, spiders known as ballooners release silk threads that become lifted into the air by the the static electricity, allowing them to float away like tiny parachutes. This remarkable ability helps them reach new habitats and escape predators.
