Did You Know?

Adélie penguins in Antarctica are amazing architects. To impress a mate, they carefully build nests using smooth stones. But not all penguins play fair – some sneakily steal stones from their neighbours when no one is looking! The bigger and better the nest, the better their chances of finding a partner. It’s a clever, mischievous and competitive way to survive in the icy wilderness!

Number Challenge

Fact: There are are 18 species of penguin.

Here’s something cool about the number 18:

1) It’s a multiple of 9 (since 9 × 2 = 18).

2)If we flip the digits (18 → 81), the new number is also a multiple of 9!

Does this trick work for other numbers that are multiples of 9? Why?

Critical Thinking

If a penguin hatched in a zoo, is it still a wild animal?
