Scottish water voles must often swim across vast, treacherous lochs (lakes), risking encounters with giant carnivorous fish that would happily swallow them whole. Despite the dangers, these remarkable athletes push forward with incredible resilience and determination. Water voles also scale 700 metre- high mountains. It is here that they must escape the murderous talons of golden eagles, which are thirty times their size.
