Plants create their own food through an amazing process called photosynthesis. Inside their cells are tiny helpers that absorb carbon dioxide from the air and turn it into energy. In return, plants release oxygen—a gas humans and all creatures need to breathe! Without this ancient and excellent system, life as we know it wouldn’t exist. Aren’t plants marvellous?
