Clip Description
Four hundred years ago, wild boar were hunted to extinction in Britain despite continuing to thrive in many other parts of the world. Since the early 1990s, they started to return to some of our forests, having previously escaped from farms. These impressive mammals range in weight from 60 -100 kg and can be up to 80 cm tall at the shoulder.
In this clip, we see a robin struggling to find food because of the winter snow. Luckily, help is at hand when a boar passes by. Using its strong snout to root through the snow and rip up the frozen ground, it uncovers lots of juicy worms. Worms are the robin’s favourite food!
