  • The smallest mammal on the planet by mass is the Etruscan shrew. The heart rate of an Etruscan shrew can reach an impressive 1,200 beats per minute with a respiratory rate of over 800 breaths per minute!

Make a list of 8 different animals. Use your research skills to place them in order from the animal with the lowest respiratory rate to the animal with the highest. Is there a relationship between animal size and respiratory rate?
