Further Challenges

  • A water vole must eat almost as much as it weighs every day! If you did the same, you would need to eat around 20 times as much as you usually eat every meal-time! To help you understand what this might look like, you’ll need a sheet of plain paper folded in half. On one side of your paper, list the items you might expect someone your age to eat for their breakfast. On the other side of your paper, work out what their breakfast might look like if it was 20 times larger than usual. How might they feel after eating it?
  • We have learnt that water voles can eat a blade of grass in 30 seconds. What activities do you think you can do in exactly 30 seconds? Put your predictions to the test and find out how long each activity took.
