- In the related clip, large trout can be seen feeding on much smaller fish (roach and perch). The typical mass of each species of fish is shown below.
One day, a brown trout ate some perch and some roach. The combined mass of all the fish eaten was equal to the trout’s own body mass.
How many of these smaller fish might it have eaten? How will you know if you have found all possible solutions?
