Did you know?
Kangaroos cover large distances by hopping on just their powerful hind (back) legs. However, when moving short distances, they hunch down on all fours and shuffle forwards. They even use their strong tail to help push themselves along. Some scientists say that a kangaroo can be called both a biped and a pentaped for this reason!
Use PAWS and the multiples-of-2 bar to solve the word problem.
Three kangaroos were hopping at great speed to escape a bush fire that was raging in the Australian outback. They were soon joined by three more kangaroos.
If you could count all of the hopping back legs of these Kangaroos, how many would there be?
