Context: Grey squirrel
Clip Description
As acrobats, bandits, gardeners and tricksters, grey squirrels are fascinating creatures to watch. Often spotted in parks and woodland areas, these furry rodents have long, bushy tails that help them balance when tree climbing and prominent front teeth that never stop growing. However, they do come to the ground in search of food such as hazelnuts, acorns and berries. Both grey and red squirrels are renowned for burying their nuts. Creating numerous underground larders, when food is abundant in the autumn, is essential for surviving the winter months (when food is scarce).
In this fascinating clip, a grey squirrel appears to be scraping a hole to stash away a tasty treat. However, on closer inspection, we discover that the crafty creature is faking this action in order to mislead a thief. Will the thief be fooled? Watch the clip to find out.
