Clip Description
Spider monkeys are small and well-suited to a life in trees. They have long limbs but, most importantly, an even longer tail (up to a whopping 89cm!) to grasp and pick up things. These agile creatures move easily by swinging and jumping from branch to branch. Living in rainforest habitats, they eat fruit, nuts, leaves and small eggs. Bark, honey and insects are sometimes eaten when other food is scarce.
In this fascinating clip, a curious and brave young spider monkey makes a dash for the high branches of a tree, while her father is not looking. But the top of the canopy is not for youngsters.
