Fronted Adverbials: orca
Writing Ideas
- Imagine that you are a herring! Write a survivor’s diary entry for the day your shoal was attacked by a pod of orcas. Don’t forget to recount what you did both before and after the attack.
- Read the poem Killer Whale (poet anonymous). See if you can write your own poem about a killer whale that uses the same rhyming words i.e. motion/ocean, smart/art, creature/feature and whale/prevail.
- Being at the top of the food chain, orcas have no natural predators. However, as is often the case in the natural world, these magnificent creatures face a number of human threats. Having researched the threats thoroughly, write a persuasive letter to someone who is in a position to help orcas. What actions would you like them to take?
