Simple sentences: clownfish
Learning Objective
We are learning how to write simple sentences.
Context: clownfish
Clip Description
Famous for being the heroes of the film ‘Finding Nemo,’ clownfish can be found in the coral reefs off the coasts of Australia and South Asia. They get their name from the bold colour strokes on their body, like a clown’s face paint.
In this fascinating clip, a coconut shell is the perfect object for a female saddleback clownfish to lay her eggs on. However, it is too far away from the anemone that is their home, and the shell is simply too heavy for a single clownfish to move by itself. How many clownfish will it take to get the coconut shell into the correct position? Watch the clip to find out.
Discuss the meaning of each word highlighted in bold.
Word Challenge
The clownfish featured in the clip showed incredible ‘resilience.’ This means that they kept going despite the mighty challenge of moving the coconut shell. Can you make a list of words/phrases that are similar in meaning to the word ‘resilience?’
