Proofreading is an important stage in the writing process. It involves spotting and correcting any mistakes that you may have made in your writing. Using the CUPS checklist (below) is a great way to spot if errors have been made.
C = Have capital letters been used correctly?
U = Do sentences sound right? (understanding)
P = Are sentences correctly punctuated?
S = Are words spelt correctly?
Read the three scintillating sentences opposite. One has been proofread and two haven’t. With your talk partner, can you spot the two that need proofreading? See if you can use the CUPS checklist (above) to identify any corrections that need to be made.
