What can grow up to 1.2 metres from nose to tail, is extremely rare, has a bony, hard carapace (outer shell) and has long claws on each of its four feet? It’s a giant armadillo!

In this fascinating clip, we get to see one of the most elusive creatures on the planet! Animal expert Arnaud Desbiez shows us some footage of the rarely-seen giant armadillo and explains why these nocturnal animals are considered to be a ‘ghost species’. When he takes us to the burrow of a giant armadillo, he has a surprise. What do you think this is, and why is the burrow nicknamed ‘Hotel Armadillo?’
