Clark’s grebes live on the lakes and coastline of western America. They have long, snake-like necks. These elegant birds mate for life but, first, the female tests her partner’s commitment by inviting him to join her in a beautiful dance.

In this fascinating clip, we get to see a pair of Clark’s grebes performing their ‘dance’. Watch in awe as they swim side by side, skitter across the water’s surface, bob their heads and groom their feathers. What do you think the male bird will offer as a final gift to his partner?
