Writing Ideas

  • Imagine that a pair of puffins (who were paired for life) were greeting each other after months apart. If they could talk, what do you think they would say? Write this conversation, thinking carefully about the punctuation that you will need such as inverted commas (speech marks).
  • Imagine you own a little rocky island along the British coastline. You have seen other seabirds nesting there, but you want puffins to come too. Write an advert to convince puffins to come to your island.
  • Using what you have learnt through the video clip, and your own fantastic words, write an acrostic poem about the brilliant puffin. Here is an example:

Peaceful in her burrow

Until an intruder appears

Fight time!

Flurry of feathers

Intruder defeated

Now she can rest!
