Clip Description

A puffin is easily recognisable by its distinctive black and white colouring and bright, colourful beak. Living in coastal regions around the northern Pacific and northern Atlantic oceans (including parts of Britain), these comical seabirds nest in burrows or rocky crevices.

In this fascinating clip, we see a male puffin waiting for his mate-for-life to return after months at sea. When she finally arrives, they greet each other by bill tapping. Unable to find their own burrow, what do you think happens when they try different burrows in the hope of finding one empty? Watch the clip to find out.

Discuss the meaning of each word highlighted in bold.
