Clip Description
The desert rain frog (Breviceps macrops) is also known as the marshmallow frog due to its small size and plump shape. Unlike most other species of frog, it develops into an adult without becoming a tadpole first.
In this fascinating clip, once night time is in full swing, a marshmallow frog emerges from the safety of her sandy home. She is searching for termites. Although her short, stumpy body may help her dig, it doesn’t lend well to travelling. Instead, she must waddle across the Namib Desert at a very slow pace. The termites are in sight but will she ever reach them? Watch the clip to find out.
