Writing Ideas

  • Draw a picture of a poison dart frog. Now label its features using expanded noun phrases. Can you describe what its skin, eyes, body, legs, feet and tongue look like and might feel like?
  • Imagine the two frogs in the video clip are taking part in a martial arts contest and you are the commentator. Write a commentary of their fight. Remember to use expanded noun phrases to add excitement and drama. You could then read it whilst playing the video.
  • Watch the related clip below. Imagine you are a poison dart frog, looking after five tadpoles in five little ponds. One of your tadpoles is wondering why you are not with her all the time. Write a letter to that tadpole, explaining that you are also looking after her brothers and sisters, finding food and searching for new ponds. Remember to use expanded noun phrases for extra interest.
